Program Guidelines

The scheduling priorities for CATV programs are:

1. Government Meetings

2. School Events(concerts, games, etc.)

3. Local Producer

4. Programs of local interest

5. Programs of interest

6. Other

All programs are reviewed quarterly by the CATV staff and Programming Committee. Time slots for broadcast of all programs are at the discretion of CATV/8. If there is a scheduling conflict, producers will be consulted. All shows may be preempted for government meetings or special events determined by the CATV/8 staff.
Weekly programs will be given a regular time slot (e.g. Tues, 8 PM) so viewers will know when the program is aired, Monthly programs will also be given a regular slot, subject to scheduling priorities in a given month.

Length of Program/Frequency
Each program is limited to a maximum of two hours (other than government or school events). The frequency of broadcasts will be:
All programs: a) one prime time slot (5 to 11 PM) b) cannot repeat more than twice in a quarter or four times a year.

Requirements of Producers

There are content, technical and scheduling requirements for every producer of programs and/or series broadcast on CATV/8. Those requirements are as follows:
>> Producers must complete the appropriate CATV forms before scheduling production or broadcast of programs.
>> Exact length of show (e.g. 52:45) with an appropriate lead time must be clearly printed on the label and program request form for all shows.
>> Local produeers may request only one prime time slot per week. The length of the program cannot exceed two hours.
>> Programs will not repeat more than two times per quarter (weekly slot) or three times a quarter (monthly slot). A show can only repeat 4 times per year. (the year starts at the first play date).

Completion Deadline
All programs must be at CATV by Monday afternoon one week prior to broadcast for the purpose of Valley News scheduling. The program must be finished, including any necessary post production work,
Producers scheduling any live programs must have all volunteers and one CATV staff member lined-up at least 48 hours before broadcast.

Definitions
Prime Time: 5:00 PM to Midnight - Sunday through Friday
Weekly Program: A series of programs following a similar theme scheduled according to CATV guidelines.
Monthly Program: Same as above
Other: Programs received sporadically, or those produced locally, but not on a regularly scheduled basis. These programs must also meet CATV guidelines.
